Drupal/Web Development Specialist

Summary: This position advances LTS services by developing innovative client-centered technology solutions using the Drupal CMS and related tools , social networking, virtual services (e.g., chat, remote services), mobile technologies, Web 2.0 applications, and beyond; Participates in design, management, and support of Drupal Web services. Provides instruction and support in managing Drupal Web services. Provide consultation to students, faculty, staff and other users of LTS services.
Accountabilities: --Designs, develops, and supports Drupal-based services as well as new/emerging technologies. --Plans, designs, and implements Web services using Drupal and where appropriate, standard coding languages (HTML, XHTML, CSS), Web design software (Dreamweaver), scripting (JavaScript, PHP), graphics/multimedia (Macromedia/Adobe Fireworks, Flash), etc. --Carrys out Drupal development projects from conceptualization to launch --Customizes the Drupal and adds to Drupal functionality using standard features or PhP, CSS/HTML, and add-on modules --Ensures Web services conform to national/international Web standards and Lehigh’s approved templates/themes --Manages all aspects of website development --Ensures the overall visual identity practices in accordance with university policy --Provides Web development and site management support for faculty, staff, and students --Serves as one of a core group of campus specialists in Web development, social media/mobile technologies, cloud services, and emerging technologies --Delivers LTS and Lehigh content through social media, mobile apps, and other software --Participates in the review and testing of new/emerging technologies and applications --Experiments with new technology tools that support the LTS strategic plan and mission --Participates in developing policies and best practices in utilizing social media --Evaluates cloud computing applications to support mobile, collaborative work on campus; supports applications adopted by the campus --Investigates and recomends social bookmarking and other media tools to support scholarly/student research
Qualifications: --Bachelor's Degree in Computing or Information Science desired or equivalent combination of education and experience; Master's degree preferred --Three to five years related work experience --Web application development experience with Drupal and familiarity with underlying Web technologies and standards such as HTML/XHTML/CSS --Experience with relational databases such as Microsoft Access, MySQL, Oracle. --Working knowledge of scripting/programming languages such as PhP, Java, Perl, Python and/or Coldfusion, Javascript, etc. --Knowledge of standard office software, graphics and video/multimedia software. --Excellent communication and interpersonal skills --Solid analytical, decision making and problem solving skills --Successful completion of standard background checks including but not limited to: social security verification, education verification, national criminal background checks, motor vehicle checks and credit history based upon the requirements of the position
