Digitization Services and Lab Manager
Description
The University of Arizona Libraries is launching a new digitization initiative and seeks a Digitization Services and Lab Manager to lead the development and implementation of digitization workflows and processes as part of a comprehensive reformatting program that includes campus partnerships, vended services, as well as in-house digitization. This position will be essential for developing program management for multiple streams of digitization and overseeing day-to-day operations of the libraries’ new digitization lab. Reporting to the Unit Lead for Digital Production and Preservation, the Digitization Services and Lab Manager will join a functional unit that includes the Digital Preservation Librarian, Digital Preservation Technician, and a Digitization Technician (who will be hired in early 2023). The successful candidate will also work in close collaboration with stakeholders in other departments including Special Collections, Technology Strategy and Services, Research Engagement, and the Center for Creative Photography, to establish protocols for selecting and prioritizing collections for digitization; capturing appropriate metadata; safely transferring materials between facilities; providing quality control of digital outputs; and ensuring long term access and preservation.
