The Kraemer Family Library seeks applications for a 12-month tenure-track Web Services Librarian position. The Web Services Librarian is responsible for planning, implementing, and maintaining the frontend web interfaces for the Kraemer Family Library’s web presences, including the library website, discovery service, OPAC, and other online platforms. The Web Services Librarian will evaluate the library’s web interfaces to ensure they are user centered and accessible using web analytics, usability studies, and other methods of continuous improvement. This position is part of a team responsible for managing the library’s web services, systems, and computer hardware, and reports to the Director of Web Services and Emerging Technologies.

This tenure track position is at the rank of Assistant Professor. As a 12-month tenure-track faculty member, the Web Services Librarian is committed to developing professionally as a member of the academic community through such scholarly activities as research projects, publications, continuing education, attendance at conferences, professional service, and university and library service.

Primary Duties Performed:

The following job duties are expected but not all-inclusive. You may explore additional interests in developing, delivering, and promoting library services or be asked to take on other duties as assigned.

  1. Develop and evaluate the library’s frontend web presences and discovery services for continuous improvement, and collect and report usages statistics for these web services.
  2. Assist the Instruction and Research Services department with managing the UX for LibGuides and other SpringShare products.
  3. Use APIs, scripts, and automation tools to create system interoperability between the library’s web presences and share dynamic content between them.   
  4. Serve on the Library Marketing Team, Library Assessment Team, UCCS Web Advisory Group, and UCCS Digital Accessibility Committee.  
  5. Provide service at the Research Assistance Desk, including occasional nights and weekends.
  6. Serve as liaison to one or more academic units, providing collection development, library instruction and research assistance.
  7. Develop professionally as a member of the academic community through such scholarly activities as research projects, publications, continuing education, attendance at conferences, professional service, and university and library service.
  8. Maintain a portfolio

The job duties above can be modified based on evolving employee, library, and/or institutional needs.

Work Location: On-site

Remote work will be available for emergency events. This will be offered based on the emergency and allowance will come from leadership and the guidelines provided at the time of the emergency.

This position has been determined to be exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

Salary Range: Generally starting at $50,000 - $57,000 annually

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

Tentative Search Timeline:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree from an ALA-accredited library school completed by start date
  • 3 months (or 1 semester) of experience or coursework in web development

  • Experience with editing at least one website in Drupal or another content management systems

  • 3 months (or 1 semester) of experience or coursework with HTML, CSS, and other web programming languages

Preferred Qualifications

  • One year experience managing a website

  • Experience improving web accessibility and implementing UX design best practices or course work that included web accessibility standards and UX design practices

  • Experience designing and conducting at least one website usability study or course work that included usability studies

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to move.  Employee is occasionally required to have long periods of sitting, moderate bending, moderate energy requirements and fine motor skills.
