Systems Librarian!
The Boeing Company Library has an exciting and unique opportunity for a friendly and tech-oriented librarian to help us implement innovative, cutting-edge library services. You will join a motivated and diverse team of library professionals tasked with delivering digital services to Boeing's wide array of employees. Candidates with a thirst for learning new technical skills and sharing insights will find many opportunities for growth and development. Potential projects include: personalized content interfaces, linked data systems, metadata management, ontology-driven applications, and metrics management. This position is located in Renton, WA.
Required qualifications: We are looking for an individual with experience in and knowledge of Library and Information Science, information management principles, practices, and systems. Candidates must be able to apply principles of information architecture (IA) and user experience (UX) to library websites, systems, repositories, and customer-driven projects in order to gather, organize, filter, and deliver the right information in the right amount to the right user at the right time.
Candidates must be proficient or have an ability to become proficient in technologies such as Java, Python, Perl, relational and NoSQL databases. Experience with web design and development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery) is required. Experience parsing and manipulating structured data in XML, JSON, and other standard formats is required. Experience administering the Millennium ILS (including Oracle DBA, Linux/Unix commands) is strongly desired. Demonstrated experience with, or ability to become proficient in metadata standards, web services and related platforms (REST, AngularJS, Elasticsearch), and semantic technologies is desired.
Other job related information: Having an MLIS/MSIM or equivalent degree, or being enrolled in an equivalent degree program, is not required, but is strongly desired.
You must be a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15.
You will be hired as a Librarian Level 3 or Librarian Level 4, depending on experience:
Level 3: Bachelor's and typically 6 or more years' related work experience, a Master's degree and typically 4 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Level 4: Bachelor's degree and typically 10 or more years' related work experience, a Master's degree and typically 8 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
