Description
The Digital History Intern will learn about historical research and digital archiving through researching newspapers in the Library of Congress’s Chronicling America database, selecting relevant articles, formatting those items, generating and editing metadata, and preparing the item for inclusion in the Remembering Lincoln collection. The intern will also learn about the importance of social media in public history work by researching sites such as Pinterest, HistoryPin and Tumblr for relevant materials, and making contact with host institutions or individuals to ask about inclusion of relevant items in the project. Also, the intern will assist with the vetting of items suggested by others for inclusion in Remembering Lincoln, learning how to define the scope for a digital history project. How to apply
