The Digital Humanities Lab Denmark (DIGHUMLAB) research infrastructure is looking for a visionary, dynamic and competent project manager to head the national research infrastructure DIGHUMLAB (set up in accordance with the national roadmap for research infrastructure: http://fivu.dk/en/publications/2011/danish-roadmap-for-research-infrastructure-2011/

The DIGHUMLAB research infrastructure supports research within digital humanities and social sciences and must be developed to serve as an integrated virtual portal to relevant digital and digitalised resources for the humanities and social sciences. DIGHUMLAB is also part of international networks of the humanities research infrastructures and Digital Humanities projects.
DIGHUMLAB was launched in 2012 and is estimated, in accordance with the project framework, to be completed by the end of 2017. However, we expect to be able to attract external funding to continue the project.

The duties of the project manager:
The project manager has the day-to-day responsibility, in collaboration with the management group, for the operational management and implementation of the infrastructure project. The project manager reports to the chairman of the steering committee, which consists of management representatives from four universities and two libraries.
The project manager will be part of the management group and will coordinate the group’s activities as well as represent the management group in relation to the steering committee.
The secretariat of DIGHUMLAB consists of the project manager and a half-time administrator, whose duties include general secretarial support, finance, communication and implementation of joint activities. Additionally, a member of the technical staff will be connected to the project, who will be in charge of analysis, planning and implementation of a national joint portal. The secretariat staff report to the project manager of DIGHUMLAB.

Duties:
• Building the DIGHUMLAB organisation
• Project and operations management of the DIGHUMLAB project and the DIGHUMLAB secretariat, including communication, knowledge exchange and PR
• Presentation of proposals, in collaboration with the management group, for strategy, work plans, reports and financial accounts to the steering committee
• Preparation of proposals, in collaboration with the management group, for organisational structure, foundation and quality assurance in relation to a joint portal for digital humanities and social science research resources
• Preparation of proposals, in collaboration with the management group, for planning, coordination and project management of the integration into DIGHUMLAB of existing and new research infrastructures
• Coordination of learning activities, course offerings and competence development in the context of DIGHUMLAB in collaboration with the management group and, in the context of DARIAH, CLARIN, TELEARC and others, in collaboration with European research infrastructures.
• Contribution to attracting relevant projects for the development of DIGHUMLAB
• General coordination of national and international agreements, including being the national representative in European research infrastructures (e.g. DARIAH)

You will be expected to have competences in several of the following areas
• Documented experience with project management, network-building and administration
• Sound academic competencies in the field, for example at PhD level
• Solid knowledge of the international and national research environments, preferably within the humanities and the social sciences
• Good collaboration and negotiation skills, with a natural focus on performing tasks and creating results in an open dialogue between partners and projects
• Communication and dissemination skills as well as competence to communicate in a wide range of media
• English at negotiation level. You will also be expected to learn Danish
• A high energy level, a great working capacity and an excellent overview

The project receives a lot of attention from the managements of Danish universities and libraries, and you can count on considerable support for the completion of the project. Your working place will be in the academic environment of Media and Information Studies at Aarhus University, Aarhus Campus. You should be able to engage in collaboration with the other universities and libraries and to develop international, in particular European relationships. Some travel should therefore be expected.

Terms of employment:
The position is being advertised as a project employment attached to the DIGHUMLAB research infrastructure for a period of at least three years with the possibility of extension. Employment is as a special consultant in accordance with the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC).
Interviews are scheduled on Sunday 17th November. Employment will be at Aarhus University, Aarhus Campus.
The position is to be filled as soon as possible.
