The Library, Information and Technology Services (LITS) division at Mount Holyoke College is committed to providing integrated information and technology services and resources that enable students, faculty, and staff to creatively and productively advance the College's mission: To educate a diverse residential community of women at the highest level of academic excellence and to foster the alliance of liberal arts education with purposeful engagement in the world.

Reporting to one of two Liaison Team Leads for Research and Instructional Support (RIS), the Librarian and Instructional Technology Consultant collaborates with a blended group of fellow librarians and instructional technologists to provide forward-looking library research and instructional technology services and resources.

This is a 1 year term position.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:
The ideal candidate will have the flexibility to support a variety of departmental functions such as:

Serves as a member of the RIS team and develops strong collaborative partnerships within LITS, the College, Five Colleges, and other professional associations to advance the College's mission.

Provides library research and instructional technology consultation via individual appointment and on a drop-in basis, both virtually and in person. Effectively designs, develops, delivers, and assesses seminars, workshops, and other learning opportunities; both those integrated into regular courses and those conducted independently for faculty and students.

Potentially serves as liaison to one or more academic departments. Supports (inter)disciplinary, pedagogical, and content needs of the departments in relation to collection development, library research, and instructional technology decisions.

Actively works with faculty to support the effective integration of library research and technology skills and tools, including the learning management system, in the academic program.

Provides self-motivated leadership in one or more areas based on institutional and team needs and individual interest and expertise.

Maintains a high level of quality customer service standards responding to questions and problems. Actively works to help the RIS team and the College to create a welcoming environment in which a diverse population of students, faculty, and staff can thrive.

Actively works with the RIS team and colleagues in LITS to support student workers.

Keeps abreast of new trends, tools, opportunities, and campus needs in the areas of teaching, learning, and libraries.

Ensures compliance with professional and technology standards, license and regulatory requirements, and MHC standards, policies, and procedures.

Evening and weekend work, as necessary. In some circumstances, it may be important to assist during adverse weather and emergency situations to ensure essential services and service points are covered.

Performs related duties as assigned. 
Qualifications ALA-accredited master's degree or relevant advanced degree required.

1-3 years' experience providing research, reference, and technology outreach and support in an academic setting preferred. Recent Masters graduates with related experience encouraged to apply.

Creativity, with a passion for supporting a collaborative work environment. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse group of faculty, students, administrators, staff, and others.

Excellent oral and written communication, quantitative, organization, and problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Flexibility to accept, manage, and incorporate change and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Ability to maintain a professional and tactful approach in all interactions, ensuring confidentiality and an individual's right to privacy regarding appropriate information.

Enthusiastic service orientation with sensitivity to the needs of users at all skill levels; the ability to convey technical information to a non-technical audience is essential.
