The Richard E. Bjork Library at the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey seeks energetic and forward-looking candidates to fill two (2) Public Service Librarian positions. The incumbents in these tenure-track, faculty positions will work with colleagues to provide reference, instruction, and other public services and will report to the Associate Director of the Library for Public Services.



Responsibilities:

Both incumbents will provide information literacy instruction in all modes and assist in developing and offering face-to-face and virtual reference and research consultation services. Other duties include participating in assessment of library operations and services; developing library collections in assigned areas; engaging in library policy making and planning; and serving on library and college committees.



Additionally—and with the help of colleagues--the User Experience Librarian will initiate qualitative and/or ethnographic studies to assess the usability and value of library programs and services, and the Outreach Librarian will create and coordinate a marketing strategy to promote the library through activities that include workshops, speakers, public events, brochures, and displays. Both will exploit social media and other forms of communication to reach library users on site and beyond.



Required Qualifications:

ALA accredited MLS/MLIS degree.
Experience providing information literacy instruction.
Experience offering library reference and research assistance.
Experience assessing library services.
Excellent communication, analytical and problem-solving skills.


Preferred Qualifications:

Experience providing instruction, reference and research assistance in an academic library.
Experience with HTML/web authoring and editing programs.
Experience using Sirsi ILS modules.
Experience using focus groups, surveys and similar usability methodologies. (UX Librarian)
Experience assessing student learning. (Outreach Librarian)
Experience planning and completing projects.
Experience presenting information to diverse audiences.
