The Grants Management, Research and Information (GMRI) department of the MacArthur Foundation consists of a six-person team that includes the Foundation’s Associate Vice President for Institutional Research and Grants Management and the Foundation Librarian who manages the Foundation Library and Archives. The GMRI department is seeking to provide an internship opportunity for someone who is enrolled in or a recent graduate of a graduate program in library science or archives, and with an interest in or experience with photography collections. Working with the Foundation Librarian, the intern will assist with the institutional print and digital photo collections, helping collect, organize, and process photos and various media, and apply metadata to a number of historical photos and media of the Foundation. The intern will gain hands-on experience with both digital and print copies of a historical photography collection of the institution, and interface with Foundation staff. Additionally, the intern will gain experience in working as a solo practitioner in a broadly focused library and archive.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

Applicants for this internship position must be enrolled in or a recent graduate of a graduate program in library science or archives and be interested in and have experience with photo collections. If in graduate school, must be in good academic standing. Having knowledge of and facility with Adobe Bridge software is a plus.
