Description

The Historical Society of Montgomery County, PA seeks Summer Interns

The Historical Society of Montgomery County, PA seeks qualified interns for a large photograph scanning and cataloging project. The interns will be responsible for digitizing historic, one-of-a-kind photographs and describing them according to professional standards. Interns will learn proper care and handling for historic collections and will be introduced to the day-to-day workings of the museum studies and archival sciences fields.

The ten week internship begins on or after May 20, 2013 and interns are expected to work at least 15 hours per week. Although this would be an unpaid internship, it could be a wonderful opportunity for students to obtain hands on experience in the field of library science or archival collections. Applicants should be working toward a degree in library science, archival science, or museum studies. Attention to detail is required.

Please send a cover letter, resume, and list of three references to Karen Wolfe, Executive Director, Historical Society of Montgomery County, 1654 DeKalb Street, Norristown, PA 19401 or email it to KarenW(at)hsmcpa.org

The Society is a private non-profit entity organized in 1881 and is dedicated to the study and preservation of the history of Montgomery County.
