Library Systems Support Specialist II

Job Description: This position will provide tier II support for public and staff technology in the Alkek Library, TechSpots, and Round Rock Campus Library. This support includes physical configuration of spaces, software configuration and imaging using MDT, SCCM, Active Directory and Group Policy management, as well as day-to-day walkthroughs and troubleshooting of all relevant technology. As Tier II support, this position will work in a ticketed environment providing mentorship and guidance to junior staff and student employees. This is a on-site customer service position with an expectation of strong interpersonal communication and the customer service skills needed to enrich student experience through the use of technology.
Job Duties:
- Provide first-level and second-level technical support to library staff and patrons.
- Respond to help desk tickets, emails, and phone inquiries related to library systems and technology.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues promptly.
- Collaborate with other IT teams to escalate and resolve complex technical problems.
- Develop and update user guides, manuals, and documentation for library systems and technology.
- Image, deploy, and configure Operating Systems and software using MDT, SCCM, and Group Policy
- Participate in cross-functional teams to improve library services and infrastructure.
- Engage with library patrons to understand their technology-related needs and concerns.
- Provide guidance and support to library users in accessing digital resources and services.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience providing desktop technical support in a 100+ user environment;
- Experience configuring and installing workstations in Windows environment;
- Excellent problem-solving/troubleshooting skills;
- Ability to communicate technical information to a non-technical audience;
- Knowledge of Active Directory and Group Policy Management;
- Ability to work independently.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or 3+ years equivalent work experience.
- Experience deploying software with SCCM.
- Experience with Mac Desktop Support.
- Experience with Windows Server.
- Experience with academic computer lab management and support.
