Description
he Database Administrator position will be responsible for the development, maintenance, performance, and integrity of the data and database environments supporting the key areas of publishing, researching, learning, and preservation at the University of Tennessee Libraries. The scope for this position will handle both the traditional database administration and the emerging technologies of data management. Reporting to the Director of Digital Initiatives, the position will work in a results-driven team environment to deliver timely projects for repository systems, publishing platforms, library websites, and many other vendor-hosted and in-house applications. Some essential tasks of this role will include planning database structures & data models, designing data pipelines, maintaining clean & accurate data, automating tests & validation methods for data, ensuring good practices for data preservation, supporting legacy databases, and managing the data storage. Additionally, the Database Administrator supports their team and the libraries by training and sharing their expertise and knowledge in data management. They will continuously seek knowledge and learning opportunities to expand their skill sets and adopt new emerging technologies.
