Description
Reporting to the digital archivist, the digital archives assistant is responsible for supporting workflows for the management of born digital archival records. The digital archives assistant with image digital media and be responsible for migration of digital files into access and preservation formats. Additionally, the digital archives assistant will assist the Manuscripts & Archives Division’s staff in the analysis and description of digital assets.This position is temporary for six months.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities
Forensic disk imaging of digital media
Restoration and migration of digital files contained in disk images
Basic analysis of digital files held contained in archival collections

Qualifications
Bachelors degree, BA or BS, from an accredited college or university (coursework in Library and Information Science MLS preferred)
Demonstrated knowledge of digital forensic tools and techniques
Demonstrated knowledge of procedures and practices for the arrangement and description of archival collections
Familiarity with Unix, Macintosh and PC operating systems, XML, and relational database systems
Work Environment
Office environment with daily competer work
