Library Applications Developer

Are you passionate about technology and helping to advance innovation, research, and society? The University of Alabama Libraries seek an enthusiastic and skilled technologist to collaborate in a research centered environment. Supporting the Technology Development Librarian, the position will design and develop customizations to specialized academic research library platforms used by the UA research community. Participate in the design, development, and support of complex library specific open-source web applications such as ArchivesSpace, Open Journal System, DSpace, CONTENTdm, Omeka S, and WordPress. Assist in performing user-centered needs assessments and will develop desired functionality. Assist in system integration projects between the multiple research platforms supported by University Libraries. Provide occasional project-based development support for the University Libraries Alabama Digital Humanities Center. Assist in developing web-based technology solutions for partnering academic areas.

The position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement.
