Medicine Hat College, a comprehensive institution offering a wide range of programs including degrees, requires a full-time Information and Technology Librarian to assist with the management of Library Services. The college, which serves 2,500 FTE students, is located on a beautiful campus in the sunniest city in Canada. Medicine Hat, with a population of over 65,000, offers a high quality of life in Southeastern Alberta.

The award-winning Vera Bracken Library in Medicine Hat is a popular and busy facility which receives top marks in the annual Student Satisfaction Survey as the library staff have a reputation for providing excellent service. A full range of library services is also provided from the student-focused Brooks Campus Library.

The librarian manages the Information Services department and as such is responsible for the leadership of various information services, including information desk scheduling, database management, and interlibrary loans.  The librarian is responsible for leading the incorporation and use of technology within the library. The librarian participates as a member of the library management team and is responsible for the supervision of staff, including hiring, training, and evaluating. 

The Information and Technology Librarian provides students, faculty, staff, and community members with instruction in locating and utilizing library resources; teaches and evaluates information literacy skills classes; selects library materials to support the college’s programs; is actively involved with the many partnerships in which the Medicine Hat College Library participates; and serves on a number of internal college committees. The position requires a Masters in Library and Information Science degree and a minimum of three years of library experience, preferably in an academic environment. Excellent interpersonal skills are essential as the librarian works with a diverse group of people, including faculty, students, staff, and community members. Knowledge of the use of technology in libraries, especially of e-resources, is required. 

Salary range:  $70,254  -  $81,392
