Digitization Services Specialist
Description
Under the supervision of the Associate University Librarian for the Digital Library, the Digitization Services Specialist uses a range of scanning technologies and techniques to digitize a wide variety of library special and general collection materials. The position is also responsible for post-processing, quality control and digital asset management of content produced or received by the Digitization Services unit. Working closely with key library departments, this position collaborates on developing workflow processes, documentation and budgets for assigned projects. The Digitization Services Specialist also works with external digitization vendors and coordinates external scanning jobs.
This position additionally provides support, assistance and advice in the use of digitization equipment and software to faculty and staff; performs routine maintenance on various systems and equipment such as cameras, lighting systems, computers and digitization equipment; and trains and supervises student workers, as assigned. The position also participates in library standing committees, contributes to the development of new library programs, such as digital initiatives and digital scholarship services, and may also participate in writing grants and funding proposals. This position is designated as a Mandated Reporter and will be required to complete trainings and comply with CANRA.
