Description

The Edmonds College Library provides excellent service to our diverse community through a variety of information services and formats which actively support successful teaching and student learning.  The Associate Dean oversees all operations and services of the Learning Resources Division. The Learning Resources Division includes the Library Instructional unit, as well as Library services and spaces. The Associate Dean provides leadership for library faculty and staff in support of the library’s mission and the mission and goals of the college.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Vision and Leadership

Provides transformational leadership, vision, and strategic direction for the Division to support student success and the interests and needs of the Edmonds campus community.

Provides leadership, direction, and support to library faculty and staff to develop and ensure that library policies and practice are built around equity and inclusion, with a goal of building an anti-racist library and institution.

Directs program development for the Division, including the development of annual goals and long-range strategic plans aligned with the mission and core themes of the college.

  • Resources, Services, and Instruction

Provides administrative direction and oversight for all operations, programs, resources, and services of the Division.  Also performs regular public service functions including coverage for the circulation and the reference desks. 

In collaboration with faculty librarians, guides and supports the library’s information literacy instruction program and its delivery to the campus community.

  • Supervision of Staff

Develops, trains, and supervises a strong cohesive team of staff, associate (part-time) faculty, and full-time faculty to cultivate a student-first environment, characterized by professionalism, collaboration, collegiality, and civility.

Directs, manages, and evaluates assigned faculty and staff in adherence to performance standards, negotiated agreements, applicable state and federal laws, as well as College policies and procedures.

Provides progressive leadership, fostering a commitment to diversity in division staff, ensuring a climate of equity and inclusion.

  • Fiscal Management

Develops, manages, and administers complex Division budgets, including monitoring of expenditures, and securing additional revenue sources (grants, gifts, endowment, etc.).

  • Outreach and Collaboration

Represents and advocates for the Library by serving on internal and external councils and committees, including the College Instructional Leadership, and state-wide consortia (Library Leadership Council and Washington Community and Technical College Library Consortium).

Establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with campus partners, including technology departments, to ensure the provision of resources and services in support of teaching and learning.

  • Campus-wide Authorities

Serves as Copyright Officer and a Campus Security Authority for the college.

  • Professional Development and Services

Keeps abreast of new trends, innovations, and technologies in academic libraries by reading current literature, communicating with colleagues, and participating in professional meetings and workshops.

Supports and collaborates with library staff and faculty on individual professional development and goals. 

 

This is an exempt position reporting to the Executive Vice President for Instruction.
