FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
The Department of Library at Kingsborough Community College is seeking candidates for Reader Services Librarian for the 2020-2021 academic year. The Reader Services Librarian participates in the direct delivery of research services, determining clients' needs, directing clients to relevant resources, providing individual instruction on the use of the CUNY integrated catalog and electronic resources.
The librarian is responsible for providing efficient and courteous service to clients as a public service area. Provides curriculum-related library instruction as requested by the faculty. Prepares lesson plans, LibGuides and tutorials specifically designed for each class. Develops research related assessment tools, implements assessment programs and provides analysis of library services and student learning outcomes. Responsible for collection development through the selection, evaluation and maintenance of library materials in subject areas assigned, and acts as a liaison to those departments. Participates in library, college and CUNY integrated committees, attends professional development programs, workshops, and seminars. Maintains memberships in appropriate professional organizations. Keeps abreast of developments in the library and information science profession. Conducts research, publishes, and presents papers at conferences as a commitment to scholarship. Tenure-track faculty must meet the publication guidelines and service requirements for tenure and promotion.
Supports a college library through providing in-depth consultation with students and faculty and collaboration for the ongoing improvement of instructional programs and practices. Pursues an active scholarly agenda, performs supervisory duties, and participates in college-and university-wide programs and committees as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Master's in Library Science (MLS), Master's in Library Information Studies (MLIS), or closely related discipline from an ALA-accredited institution, with a second graduate degree required. Also required is the ability to work with others for the good of the institution.
Other Qualifications:
Experience in the operations of the Exilbris library system a plus. The successful candidate will have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to formulate ideas clearly in both written and spoken form. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with faculty and students in interpreting and advancing the work of the library in support of learning and teaching and college level reference. Teaching and/or library instruction experience are essential as is knowledge of electronic information resources. Education/academic experience in computer application a strong plus.

COMPENSATION
$68,476 - $78,144. Salary will commensurate with experience and qualifications.
