Reporting to the Digital Repositories Librarian, the Research Data Librarian will participate in University Libraries efforts to map and integrate the library, its services and resources, to Virginia Tech's research enterprise. The incumbent will split time between supporting the library's digital services (e.g. virtual research communities, VTechWorks repository, data management) and applied research for externally funded research projects. Virginia Tech University Libraries is looking for a service oriented, energetic, motivated individual with an entrepreneurial spirit to work in a team-based environment to advance its strategic directions, goals, and objectives.

Required Qualifications
Required: MLIS from an ALA-accredited program or equivalent advanced degree; working knowledge of metadata for digital collections; experience with digital projects; experience with DSpace, Fedora, or other repository software; excellent communication and project management skills; ability to set priorities and make deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications
Preferred: BS in a scientific field, such as physics, or biological, chemical, earth, or life sciences.
Background in computer science or experience with computational methods and techniques. Working knowledge of metadata, specifically for scientific research data. Familiarity with linked open data, semantic web technologies, and exchange protocols. Record of professional involvement.
