Business Analyst l - Washington University IT, Research Infrastructure Services 

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under moderate supervision, provide cost-effective information technology solutions by creating new, modifying, and supporting existing software applications that are moderately complex.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Perform application lifecycle activities, including:
  • Code monitor, maintain, test, and debug software applications
  • Document existing processes as they relate to information technology solutions
  • Follow established change management processes
  • Participate in code reviews
  • Make recommendations for hardware/software solutions
  1. Provide support                                                                     
  • Create, document, schedule, and support operational activities
  • Coordinate with software vendors and external service providers to seek guidance or to work on integration/configuration
  • Troubleshoot software bugs and provide fixes
  • Provide off hours support, as needed
  1. Leadership                                                                                                    
  • Provide excellent customer service
  • Adhere to departmental standards
  • Act as a source of direction, training, and guidance for less experienced staff
  1. Perform other duties as assigned

 

Required Qualifications

 

Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline such as Computer Science or equivalent combination of education & experience.

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline
  • 2 years of relevant technology experience
  • Prior experience in a higher education technology environment
  • Demonstrated aptitude to quickly and effectively adapt to technologies outside of current experience
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work as part of a team and independently
  • Ability to work with only moderate supervision
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new circumstances
  • Ability to work extra hours and recognize the need to do so
  • Ability to adjust scheduled time
  • Ability to adjust to change and demands on time
  • Programming languages, such as Perl, Java, Python, Scala, JavaScript
  • Technologies such as Ansible, Atlassian, NextCloud, LSF, Globus, PostgreSQL
