Job Summary:
Passionate about the future of big data applications or in exploring virtual reality? Miami University Libraries seeks a dynamic and creative Visiting Data and Immersive Technologies Librarian or Specialist for the Create and Innovate department. This temporary position is a one-year appointment with the possibility of renewal for a second year based on funding and performance.
Duties:
The successful candidate will join a team currently working in and supporting innovative services such as data visualization and GIS, virtual reality, makerspaces, 3D printing, digital scholarship, open educational resources, collaborative learning spaces, and high-end multimedia labs; take a proactive role in implementing new academically oriented data and virtual reality services that we have identified in consultation with partners and collaborators; play a key role in the implementation of next generation library services and labs that can inspire students to learn about immersive and cutting edge technologies such as mixed reality and artificial intelligence; engage with library colleagues and faculty to explore activities that introduce students to immersive tools; train student employees and library staff in order to build technical competencies in data-driven and multidisciplinary projects; develop training materials with interactive tutorials and examples for workshops that can be integrated in library instruction; develop a plan for the library to establish a new immersive learning lab that will integrate technologies such as mixed reality and artificial intelligence; implement project demos for interactive data visualization, augmented and virtual reality. This position reports to the Head of the Create and Innovate Department.
