DUTIES
Reporting to the Systems Administrator IV, QEII Library and Manager, ITS Data Centre Services the successful applicant will have primary responsibility for the support of Ubuntu/RedHat Linux servers and act as a secondary resource for Microsoft windows based servers all in support of Memorial University Library's teaching, learning, and research initiatives. Duties include performing skilled technical work to build and maintain IT infrastructure; providing integrated computing solutions including software customization, and ensuring data integrity; maintaining the overall security of multiple systems through the application of patches and software upgrades for the Linux and Windows environments; installing, preparing, maintaining, documenting, and modifying packages and programs; system programming; monitoring use of resources; automating procedures; troubleshooting system failures and user errors; scheduling and verifying server backups; preparing technical documentation and providing technical assistance on a library-wide basis; participating in systems architecting and planning; conducting research and development in support of new digital library services; and other related duties as required by operations and project related work.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience (3-5 years) in Linux systems administration; graduation from a four-year college or university with major course work in Computer Science; or any equivalent combination of experience and training. Demonstrated experience using network security tools and familiarity with security practices is required; virtual environment experience, cron jobs, and shell scripting is also required. Experience in Windows environments, using Active Directory, and batch scripts is recommended. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and organizational skills with a strong customer service orientation.
SALARY $45,383 - $63,642 per annum (Non-Bargaining)
