The Library Department seeks applications for a full-time tenure-track
position at the assistant librarian level. The User Experience (UX)
Librarian works closely with colleagues to coordinate the library's user
experience efforts, for both physical and online library environments
(approximately 40% of time); provides general supervision to the Access
Services department (approximately 30% of time); participates in collection
development for assigned departments, and participates in the library's
information literacy instruction program. Working collaboratively, the UX
Librarian is responsible for developing and implementing programs and
projects designed to improve the overall user experience of the Library. The
UX Librarian is expected to participate in professional development,
research, and service on university and external committees. This is a
full-time, 12-month, tenure-track position and reports directly to the
Library Director.
Requirements:
Required Qualifications
* ALA-accredited Master of Library and Information Science or
equivalent
* Articulated strong customer-service ethic, focusing on student,
faculty, and staff needs.
* Supervisory experience.
* Demonstrated excellent spoken and written communication skills.
* Evidence of strong team orientation and a track record of successful
collaboration.
* Demonstrated organizational skills and demonstrated ability to
handle multiple concurrent projects.
* Expressed knowledge of project management.
* Demonstrated strong analytical skills, and an understanding of tools
and technologies relevant to evaluation, measurement, and assessment of
library services.
* Flexibility and creativity in problem solving.
* Ability to engage in self-directed learning about emerging
technologies.
* Coursework or experience in the field of library user experience.
Preferred qualifications:
* Experience completing or leading usability or user experience
projects.
* Teaching experience.
