Description
The Motion Picture Research Library is seeking a highly organized, self-motivated, service-oriented Acquisitions and Electronic Resources Librarian. Reporting to the Head of Technical Services, this Librarian performs a variety of complex, technical and specialized library functions in relationship to the acquisition of resources processed in the Technical Service Department for the Margaret Herrick Library. This position will begin January 2016.Applicants must submit Cover Letter and Resume.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs routine acquisitions activities for books, periodicals, and digital collections
- Participates fully in department collection development program
- Performs auditing of current and prospective vendors to assess service and pricing, renegotiating discount/pricing structures with appropriate vendors
- Establishes and maintains effective relationships with vendors and service providers
- Orders and receives resources via firm order and/or approval plan
- Assists with management of acquisitions budgets, produces financial reports and purchase orders from the ILS and acquisition databases. Generates additional reports which support the financial responsibilities of the department, including subscription information for AMPAS departments
- Ensures monthly reconciliation of all funds with MHL ledgers
- Responsible for the lifecycle of licensed electronic and print publications
- Resolves complex issues involving electronic resource and print subscriptions
- Corresponds with publishers/vendors and monitors their offerings of e-resources
- Responsible for serials accounts for all Academy group and library subscriptions
- Assists with copy cataloging
- Assists with digital initiatives and projects
- Participates in professional growth and development to enhance skills and knowledge of current trends in acquisitions, collections and electronic resource management
- Seeks opportunities to introduce new methods and technologies to improve service
- May supervise Library Assistant (Periodicals)
- Assists in other library activities as assigned
- Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from an accredited program
- Minimum of two years of experience working with digital library collections, vendors and material budgets in an academic or research library
- Minimum of two years of experience with library databases and library systems
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds
- Demonstrated ability to interact professionally, effectively and collaboratively with colleagues
- Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion
- Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to effectively prioritize and balance multiple projects simultaneously
