POSITION DESCRIPTION Design and implement a visually appealing, easy-to-use interface for a repository of 300,000 digitized historical newspapers. The open-source MySQL/Django/Python app is installed; now we need a stunning, user-friendly front end. You will develop a visual identity for the project, create a banner or other graphic elements, and build dynamic, usable page layouts. Using your experience with responsive design, you will create an interface that works properly on handheld devices and desktop PCs. You will test for cross-browser/cross-platform compatibility and implement necessary refinements. Your experience applying the principles of accessible design will ensure that the resource is useful for the widest audience possible.
REQUIRED Expert-level HTML and CSS. Experience designing a web front end for a library or museum search and discovery resource. Experience with Bootstrap. Familiarity with Django templating. Excellent communication skills and experience collaborating remotely. Familiarity with open-source projects and GitHub.
LOCATION We are in Helena, Montana; you can be anywhere.
