22/hours per week/daytime hours (M-F between hours of 8am-6pm)

The Library at the Fashion Institute of Technology seeks a forward-thinking individual to serve as Digital Initiatives Librarian. Oversees and directs digital initiatives related to access, description and content management. Responsible for metadata creation, analysis and enrichment according to local and national cataloging and metadata standards in a variety of formats. Participates in Library research and instructional services and reference shifts.

Required qualifications:

ALA-accredited MLS or MLIS and minimum of two (2) years of library experience. Experience with cataloging in a variety of formats, digital project management and knowledge of emerging technologies. Excellent interpersonal, analytical and communication skills.

Preferred qualifications:

Two (2) years post-MLS professional library experience, experience in academic libraries, experience with digital image databases, video content management, scripting, non-MARC metadata formats and programming languages.
