The University of Nevada, Las Vegas Libraries invites applications for a Web Designer and Development Specialist. This administrative faculty position, reporting to the Head of Web and Application Development Services, will provide in-house web and development expertise for the UNLV University Libraries. The UNLV Libraries web presence is extensive and currently encompasses the main website (http://www.library.unlv.edu) and other discovery systems and services, such as digital collections (http://digital.library.unlv.edu) and the library online catalog (http://webpac.library.unlv.edu). The incumbent is responsible for creating website templates and layouts, including production of original web elements (i.e. graphics, icons), and day-to-day web development tasks within the Drupal content management system. The UNLV Libraries foster a collaborative spirit with website project development. The incumbent will work closely with clients to understand desired website goals, including design and functionality. They will work to develop and present iterative designs intended to meet client expectations, while also balancing other inputs such as knowledge of website design best practices, the desired site’s information architecture, and consideration of usability feedback. The incumbent will also participate in the development of ancillary web-delivered services and applications such as digital learning objects. The incumbent will maintain expertise in evolving web programming languages, and is expected to provide expertise on web design trends, website theming, and design best practices, such as responsive / adaptive design principles.
