Description
Basic Function Responsible for ongoing administration and support of software and applications in a complex production environment. Works closely with clients, business analysts, and team members to understand complex business requirements that drive the analysis and design of quality technical solutions.Contract Length 12 month
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for functional analysis, developing functional specifications, requirements definition, data mapping, function mapping, setting of configuration tables, setting of transaction/control tables, module configuration, prototyping and testing for complex software applications.
Involved in security/authorization set-up, user documentation, data interface design, data migration and reconciliation.
Job Competencies:
Administration, documentation, monitoring and/or modification of multiple complex automated information system software or applications, related tools and interfaces.
Administration, documentation, monitoring and/or modification of multiple complex automated information system software or applications based on system life-cycle standards and IS Architectural and Security protocols.
Perform analysis and judgment regarding interdependencies of processes/applications/technologies.
Provide user support for multiple complex automated information systems or applications.
Develop complex application requirements based on business requirements from clients and technical requirements from IS support specialties.
Work effectively with limited oversight.
Provide information and recommendation to supervisor for decision-making.
Establish estimates and timelines for specific applications/projects and take direct accountability for results.
Responsible for relationships with team members and clients for applications/projects with a moderate to large scope (division, college).
Anticipate clients' future needs; participate in the definition of client's strategic plan.
Effectively deliver informational and decision seeking presentation to technical and functional groups.
Assist in communicating team goals and keeping team focused.
Effectively prioritizes and handles multiple concurrent activities; assist teams in planning and estimating techniques for various activities.
Establish focused, measurable goals for self and others.
Identify solutions that effectively combine needs and or resources for multiple clients and applications.
Leadership and Supervision May supervise students and/or provide functional guidance of support staff or other employees who work on a project or assignment on a temporary or intermittent basis.

Working Knowledge of:
Familiarity/expertise with appropriate specific business or centralized applications/program(s); including user functional needs and design architecture.

Education and Experience:
A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or related degree plus 4 years experience OR a combination of education, training, and experience equivalent to an Associate degree in IS/CS plus 6 ? 7 years of experience including; administering, documenting, monitoring and/or modifying multiple complex IS applications; performing analysis and judgment regarding interdependencies of processes/applications/technologies; providing user support for multiple complex applications; developing complex application requirements.
Working Knowledge of:
Complex tools and techniques to implement and maintain appropriate application.
Application support environment and operating system.
Complex business processes related to supported application.
Complex techniques for studying business processes; including analysis of user functional needs.
Complex computer system analysis, design, testing, debugging and maintenance techniques and practices.
Demonstrated Ability to:
Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with technical staff, user departments and end users across multiple departments / divisions.
Manage time and resources and effectively balance multiple priorities.
Participate as a member of a cross-divisional project team.

Additional Information
(Unique characteristics or needs of the position) CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES IN UL:
1. Support and configure the KentLINK III Millenium and Sierra modules for Cataloging,
Acquisitions, Serials, ERM.
2. Manage large-scale data search, manipulation, load preparation, data offloading, and collection analysis
for KentLINK using III tools like Create Lists, SQLViews, and Load Scheduler, as well
as third-party tools and local programming in languages like Perl and PHP.
3. Provide backup support for other KentLINK services like Millenium and Sierra
Circulation and KentLINK user account maintenance.
4. Support configuration and maintenance of the public interface of the KentLINK WebPAC.
5. Configure end-user search interfaces for remote research database products like those
from EBSCO, Lexis/Nexis, OCLC, and other vendors.
6. Support UL staff use of information vendors like OCLC and its Connexion client interface to its services.
7. Support and manage UL technical involvement in the OhioLINK projects like
ETD (Electronic Theses and Dissertations.)
8. Support configuration and maintenance of other staff-facing and public-facing software
services like Illiad, Ares, SIPX, ERes, EBSCO Discovery Service, and others.
PREFERRED SKILLS:
1. Experience with integrated library system configuration and programming.
2. Experience with a text processing language like Perl.
3. Experience with end-user search interface configuration and programming.
4. Experience with library technical services formats, services and protocols.
