Description

SCAD seeks a systems and electronic resources librarian. The person in this position is responsible for managing and coordinating the technology needs of all the SCAD libraries, including maintenance of the Millennium ILS, electronic resources, and library website, and leads projects and training efforts in these areas.

The librarian will:

  • Demonstrate innovative and dynamic leadership of all aspects of SCAD Libraries' Millennium operating system, including maintenance, troubleshooting and upgrades
  • Manage licenses, access and statistics for SCAD Libraries' databases, including administering an Electronic Resource Management system
  • Work collaboratively and creatively with all library staff, library patrons, information management and technology, creative direction, marketing and public relations, Design Group, and other SCAD constituencies
  • Provide Millennium training and support to all library staff
  • Collaborate with IM&T as library liaison for all hardware and software issues
  • Act as the point person for all library technology needs outside the purview of IM&T
  • Work with the director of technical services and systems to plan for library technology needs and create annual technology budget requests
  • Train others and assist with compilation of library departmental statistics and assessment reports at the request of SCAD administration, library staff, and professors
  • Assist librarians and staff at all library locations to evaluate, maintain, and troubleshoot access to SCAD Libraries' electronic collections
  • Lead initiatives to maintain an updated Web presence for SCAD Libraries
  • Work with the director of technical services and systems to represent SCAD Libraries at local and national Innovative/Millennium professional development opportunities
  • Maintain positive working relationships with systems, technology and electronic resources vendors, and serve as a point of contact for maintenance, troubleshooting, and emergencies
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • May need to work flexible hours according to need.

Must possess:

  • ALA-accredited M.L.S. degree
  • Undergraduate or additional graduate degree in a subject taught at SCAD
  • 3-5 years experience in overseeing, maintaining, managing and troubleshooting an integrated library system, Innovative Interface systems preferred
  • Working knowledge of Web development tools (Adobe Creative Suite 5, HTML, CSS, XML, PHP, SQL) and Web 2.0 technologies
  • Thorough knowledge of existing and emerging library technologies.
