Description

The University of Baltimore’s Langsdale Library is seeking a Librarian I/Audiovisual Archivist who will be responsible for the preservation, description, accessibility and sustainability of all audiovisual materials.  The successful candidate will develop general procedures, workflows, manuals and infrastructure consistent with best professional practices.  Responsibilities will also encompass preservation rehousing and digitization of analog materials, creating metadata, collection guides and web interfaces to maximize online visibility, live promotion of collection use by providing reference and instructional services, and actively seeking additional resources to further collection development, including grants.  Employment offer is contingent on final position funding.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • MA, MFA, MLS or equivalent degree in moving image archiving and preservation
  • Good written and oral communications, project management, and planning
  • Ability to work independently, collaboratively, and effectively with faculty, students, staff, and the general public
  • Demonstrated knowledge of archival principles and practices
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Two years of experience in a professional position involving moving image archiving and preservation in an archives or academic library.
