State University of New York at Oswego seeks a collaborative librarian/webmaster/scholar to join Penfield Library as Webmaster. Working with faculty librarians dedicated to student learning and excellent service, the individual in this position will lead initiatives to ensure a meaningful, engaging and accessible library web presence at an institution where students study diverse subject matter on-campus, online and around the globe. Additional responsibilities include web site assessment and participation in instruction, reference and collection development. This is a 12-month tenure track position reporting to the Coordinator of Library Technology.

Salary:  Commensurate with rank and experience.

Description of Responsibilities:   The responsibilities of this position include:

Maintain and continuously improve Penfield Library's extensive library web presence, including oversight of website content and design.
Lead assessment initiatives, including usability studies, regarding the library website.
Chairs the Library Web Team and serves as a core member of the Library Technology Team.
Assist the Coordinator of Library Technology with new and ongoing initiatives, such as digitization projects.
Assist with maintaining Library branding across its web presence and supports other Library marketing efforts.
Collaborate extensively with a variety of college partners, including subject librarians, Coordinators of Reference and Instruction, and campus web team in delivering relevant web resources and services. 
Serve as liaison to assigned academic departments, with responsibility for subject specialized collection development and instruction. 
Participate in Research Help Desk rotation for on-site and electronic reference, including some evening and weekend shifts.
Required qualifications:

A Master's degree in Librarianship/Information Sciences from an ALA accredited program, currently held or expected no later than August 2013.
Working knowledge of the principles and practices of web design and development.
Experience with HTML/CSS and knowledge of web accessibility standards.
Demonstrated knowledge of PHP, SQL, or other programming languages.
Demonstrated ability to effectively use emerging library technologies.
Ability to adapt quickly in a rapidly changing environment.
Excellent communication skills, including written communication.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with colleagues.
Strong customer service orientation.
Experience working effectively with diverse populations.
Preferred qualifications:

Recent work experience in an academic library setting.
Working knowledge of a content management system.
Experience with web development technologies, including PHP and SQL.
Experience or training in website usability testing.
Experience with various operating systems including Windows and Unix and their related web technologies.
Experience developing for both desktop and mobile web platforms and knowledge of responsive design practices.
Knowledge of, or experience with, digital repositories.
Experience with reference service, instruction, and/or collection development.
