Additional Information
Purpose of position to provide support to the University of Texas Libraries staff in developing innovative services for users, facilitating access to ever growing digital collections and evolving information access services.
Essential Functions
Using web development and content management experience to provide support for library staff and campus constituents in incorporating digital assets into their projects and online learning modules. Track trends in research, pilot methods to address future information access needs from UT Library digital collections, and serve as a resource person for library staff about new and emerging information access technologies such as mobile devices, course management integration, blogs, wikis and resource federation. Participate in the evaluation, development, purchase and implementation of software and hardware solutions to improve UT Libraries digital collection related services. Participate in library and campus-wide committees, and project groups as appropriate.

Required qualifications
Experience with web development and graphic design for the web. Expertise with HTML, CSS, Flash, and a scripting language such as PHP. Experience working with the Drupal content management system. Experience creating and adapting web-based tools such as wikis, blogs, etc. Knowledge of user-centered design and web standards, including accessibility standards and the assessment of web-based instructional materials. Demonstrated interest in emerging technologies and knowledge of technology trends in libraries. Evidence of excellent written and verbal communication and organizational skills. Proven ability to be flexible in work assignments and environments. Ability to work on several overlapping projects simultaneously. Ability to work under pressure, meet strict deadlines, and accept supervision. Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. US citizenship or Permanent Work authorization required. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
Three or more years of experience with web development and graphic design for the web. Experience developing the user interface for large collections of digital content. Experience incorporating JavaScript into web-based projects. Demonstrated ability to track and apply technology developments in consumer electronics, libraries and data visualization. Experience developing interface for mobile focused applications. Experience incorporating resources into course management systems. Experience creating and maintaining online tutorials or other web-based instructional environments. Evidence of initiative, creative energy and resourcefulness. Experience related to job functions. Proven ability to work collaboratively and efficiently in a fast-paced and evolving technological and team-oriented environment.
Working conditions
May work around standard office conditions Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation Lifting and moving Work performed on concurrent multiple projects under pressure of rigid deadlines or time limitations. May require occasional extended work hours or on-call obligation.
