Description
McDaniel College's Hoover Library seeks an enthusiastic, collegial and service-driven librarian to contribute as an integral member of a team providing excellent academic library services in an innovative setting. We are looking for a librarian with strong interest in providing liaison support for academic departments including information literacy instruction, reference and collection development. The successful candidate will also lead efforts to study and improve user experiences by working collaboratively with others to support assessment initiatives and examine our success serving the users of the library from multiple perspectives. Responsibilities include making a positive impact through outreach and promotional activities, studying user*s needs, making significant improvements and demonstrating the value of the library to the campus. Some evening and occasional weekend hours required. This is a full-time, 12 month position, with an anticipated start date of July 15, 2013.Required Qualifications: ALA accredited Master's Degree in Library or Information Science.
Enthusiasm for information literacy instruction and providing interdisciplinary liaison activities, especially working with faculty and providing personalized research support for students. Strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills with demonstrated ability to provide well-reasoned analysis using appropriate research and data resources; developing reports to support conclusions; and aptitude for detailed work. Ability to work in a strongly collaborative environment and fit into the cross-functional nature and close knit community at a small liberal arts college. Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Ability to successfully lead and complete a wide scope of projects. Demonstrated commitment to the use of new information technologies.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with information literacy instruction and providing reference services. Experience designing and developing analytical studies using observational and field methods to gather both quantitative and qualitative data and perform robust analysis of the results with outcomes for improvement. Aptitude for identifying, retrieving, and using data sets relevant to social science research, and for teaching methods on how best to use them.
Salary: Anticipated salary in the mid to high 40*s depending on experience.
