Information Technology Manager

Description

The Tacoma Public Library in the Puget Sound region of Washington State is recruiting for an Information Technology Manager.  This classification reports to the Library Director and provides leadership from planning and development to implementation.

Responsibilities include: Manage the scheduling, budgeting, security, records storage and recovery, and maintenance of inventory control for the computer resources of the library.  Plan, prepare, coordinate and manage the departmental budget; track and monitor expenditures to assure financial accountability.  Supervise and evaluate the performance of staff. Knowledge required includes: Advanced knowledge of: integrated library systems, content management systems, digital repositories, and the legal issues impacting digital services for libraries and archives, complex infrastructure IT project development, implementation, and management, library organization, operations, policies and objectives,  budget preparation and management of departmental expenditures, union contracts and rules governing represented employees, modern office practices, procedures and equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS:  A combination equivalent to: Graduation from an accredited college with a Master's degree in Library or Information Science or related advanced degree in Information Management, and seven (7) years experience working in library technology of which five (5) years must be managing a library IT department or equivalent, and knowledge of American Library Association principles and practices as well as the standards, protocols, and practices of other libraries. 

DESIRABLE: Experience managing an integrated library system from Innovative Interfaces, Inc., or from another vendor. The annual salary is $80,121 to $97,760.  The Tacoma Public Library offers a competitive benefits package. The deadline for receipt of applications is 5:00 PM May 3, 2013.
