Description

The Wyndham Robertson Library at Hollins University invites applications for the position of Outreach/Liaison Librarian.

The Outreach/Liaison Librarian, working in collaboration with library and university colleagues, will provide leadership in the proposal, development, and execution of library outreach and marketing efforts (examples include, but not are limited to, orientations, exhibits, events, publications, and signage).  The librarian will communicate library messages through print and online channels, including the coordination of the library’s social media presence; work with the Information Technology Librarian to maintain the library website and the library's presence in university portals; and coordinate forums (e.g., student advisory committee, focus groups, and surveys) to gather feedback and input from campus community members on library services and resources.  The librarian will also serve as a liaison librarian providing instruction, reference, and collection development services to designated academic departments.  The librarian will provide regular reference desk support, including one evening shift per week during the regular academic year, and may also work occasional evenings and weekends as needed for special events.

Qualified candidates must have an ALA-accredited master’s degree in library and information science or other related master’s degree; knowledge of library trends, standards, and technology; excellent communication and organizational skills; a demonstrated commitment to professional development; and the interest and ability to provide reference, instruction, and collection development.  Successful applicants must also have abilities to prioritize tasks, work with flexibility, and be creative; to self-start and work independently, as well as on a team; and to communicate and interact effectively with library and university staff, faculty, students, and members of the public.  Candidates are sought who are committed to cross-functional librarianship, interested in working in a collaborative library environment, and eager to participate in the daily life of a small, liberal arts university community.  Experience working in libraries is preferred, as is experience in graphic and/or web design.  Early career librarians are encouraged to apply.

Review of applications will begin May 1, 2013, and will continue until the position is filled.  A letter of application, resume, and contact information for three professional references should be e-mailed as attachments to hollinshr@hollins.edu.
