Description

Reporting to the Head of Library Technology Services, the Systems Librarian is primarily responsible for administering our library services platform, Alma/Primo VE. The ideal candidate will have strong technology and analytical skills, the ability to communicate and work effectively with colleagues across campus, and a commitment to serving our academic community and fostering a collaborative environment.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, information systems or a related field with 5 years of experience in a library setting OR Master’s Degree in information technology, computer science, information systems, library science or a related field with 2 years of experience in a library setting.
  • At least 2 years’ experience with ILS systems such as Alma/Primo VE or other library management systems and knowledge of and experience with HTML and CSS.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of information technology principles, processes, systems, and standards, including usability, accessibility, and emerging web technologies.
  • Experience participating in systems projects or implementing new technologies.
  • Ability to adapt to and manage shifting priorities, demands, and timelines.
  • Extensive experience with databases and related data storage systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong planning and organization skills.
  • Good judgment, diplomacy, and objectivity to effectively and appropriately make decisions.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Library Science or equivalent degree from an American Library Association (ALA)-accredited institution.
  • Experience working in an academic setting.
  • Experience with access and authentication processes using SAML and EZproxy.
  • Knowledge of basic programming concepts and languages such as Python, R, Javascript, SQL, JSON, XSL, and XML.
