Research Data Librarian

The Hofstra University Library is pleased to invite applications for the appointment of a tenure-track Research Data Librarian in the Department of Technical and Digital Library Services. The successful candidate will help develop and implement Library services that support Hofstra researchers with data management, organization, analysis, preservation, and sharing.

In this position, the successful candidate will be expected to:
- Work with a team of key university stakeholders to analyze and assess current campus research data management needs, and to collaboratively develop research data initiatives, services, and future directions.
- Collaborate on the development and implementation of a plan for the Library to provide and sustain data
- services to support the University’s research mission.
- Assist researchers in complying with sponsor-mandated data management and sharing requirements, working together with the Office for Research and Sponsored Programs and other university units as appropriate.
- Advise on repository requirements and infrastructure and assist in the implementation and management of repository systems and services.
- Advocate for the value of responsible data practices and reproducibility, emphasizing considerations of privacy, ethics, attribution, and documentation when working with data.
- Provide guidance, support, and educational programming to assist researchers in data analysis, visualization, and evaluation techniques, working together with other university units as appropriate.
- Educate and inform the campus community about data curation and preservation practices and strategies
- as they relate to scholarly communication endeavors.
- Conduct research and scholarly activities to meet the Hofstra University Library criteria for promotion and tenure.
- Serve on University and department committees, task forces, and teams.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
