Description

ORCID is seeking an experienced Product Manager - Integrations to drive the development and adoption of our services within the global scholarly community, fostering collaborations with external partners and enhancing the researcher experience. If you like the flexibility of a remote organization and the public-service orientation of a non-profit, join us on our mission to connect research and researchers!

The Role

ORCID is seeking a Product Manager for Integrations. This role combines product management with elements of outreach, support and marketing. The core focus is ensuring ORCID stakeholders gain maximum value from external integrations, driving increased adoption, user satisfaction, and progress towards our vision.

The position will be part of our Product team, reporting to the Director of Product and is full time (40 hours/week). Like all positions at ORCID, the role is fully remote. Candidates must be able to work during Europe or eastern American standard business hours (Mon-Fri) with at least four hours daily between 1200-1800 UTC, with recurring meetings between 1200 - 1700 UTC. Outside of these parameters, ORCID offers flexibility with your schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Product relationship management. Collaborate with key stakeholders to understand their technical and strategic goals.  Develop shared understanding and co-design solutions for ORCID integrations, considering functional, technical and user experience requirements.  Guide the integration process with a focus on mutual success, adhering to best practices and maximising the value delivered to our users.
  • Product development, strategy and vision. Work with key stakeholders to gather feedback and interpret their requirements. Organise surveys and workshops to better understand them. Collaborate with the product team to triage requests, prioritise new product features and contribute to the product roadmap.
  • Product communication, adoption and marketing. Develop and manage pilot projects and create go-to-market strategies, processes and materials, in conjunction with our Communications team, for new products and features.  Help develop value propositions and produce outreach materials that encourage and support ORCID adoption.  Assist with the development of product documentation, marketing and training materials.
  • Advocacy and outreach. Represent ORCID in community working groups, webinars, and events where conversations shape best practices, adoption and new service development.  Help key stakeholders understand and use ORCID in the way that best meets their needs, the needs of their users, and the ORCID mission. Proactively engage with stakeholders to improve their outcomes through advice and training, and use their feedback to identify areas of improvement for ORCID services.
  • Market research and intelligence. Take a data-driven approach to identifying new initiatives and measuring impact. Maintain a deep understanding of scholarly communications workflows and how they benefit from ORCID integrations. Stay abreast of new developments and provide insights to other team members.

Experience

A successful candidate will have:

  • Familiarity with global scholarly infrastructure, scholarly publishing, library systems or publishing systems.
  • At least five years of experience in a Product Management or Technical Account Management role.
  • A track record of building collaborations with external partners.

Requirements

  • This is a highly collaborative role. The ability to work in cross-functional teams on shared initiatives and a proven track record of managing multiple streams of work is paramount.
  • This role requires excellent communication skills. A clear and concise communication style and the ability to translate highly technical concepts to plain language suitable for non-native English speakers is essential.
  • This role requires a high level of self direction. Taking Initiative and actively seeking opportunities to drive product success are fundamental to this role. The ability to identify useful work, cultivate ownership, specify goals and work towards them is required.
  • Empathy and active listening skills are required. A genuine passion for customer success and a deep understanding of user perspectives are required to succeed.
  • Problem solving skills and a willingness to experiment are important.  An inquisitive, methodical, and analytical mindset is needed to explore possibilities, identify challenges and propose solutions.
  • Fluency in English required. Additional languages are a plus.
  • Ability to travel internationally based upon business needs (less than 20%)
