Description

 The U.S. Senate Historical Office is seeking a Deputy Archivist for Digital Archives to support the preservation, management, and accessibility of electronic records documenting Senate history. This role is essential in ensuring the long-term integrity and usability of digital records through archival best practices, digital preservation strategies, and metadata management.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing the acquisition and preservation of born-digital records
  • Developing and implementing workflows for digital preservation and access
  • Providing guidance on digital record stewardship and metadata standards
  • Collaborating with Senate offices, committees, and archival institutions

  • Minimum Requirements: ALA-accredited MLS/MLIS master's degree in library science, a master's degree in American history or information science (all degrees accompanied with a focus on archives management), or a master's degree in archival science with five years of experience in electronic records archiving, and recent training in the most up-to-date digital curation practices.
