Job Description:
Texas State University Libraries is seeking an Library Assessment Assistant. This position is responsible for supporting library wide assessment activities. The position assists the Assessment Librarian with data gathering, annual reporting, collection review, and other assessment related activities. In addition, the position may stand in some assessment related meetings and relay information back to the Assessment Librarian.
Job Duties:
- Distribute preliminary and reminder emails for data collection, collect reasons for out-of-scope numbers, ensure spreadsheet organization and perform periodic completion checks for UL Annual Report, ACRL, ARL, and IPEDS.
- Assist with LibQUAL preparation activities, aid in coding and categorizing LibQUAL comments, assist assessment librarian with creating LibQUAL presentation and data visualizations.
- Assist with coding and data analysis during collection audits and other assessments conducted by the assessment librarian.
- Assist in evaluating library spaces, conduct heat mapping by counting patrons on floors using handheld counters, and track circulation or usage of collections through various methods.
- Participation in continued professional development and contribution to field of study.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications: Applicants must specifically address how they meet these required qualifications to meet the requirements of the position.
- Understanding of qualitative and quantitative research methods.
- Ability to coordinate multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work collaboratively as an individual and across departments, units, teams.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, analytical, written, and oral communications skills.
- Knowledge and ability to use Microsoft Office applications to assist with data collection, presentation, and reporting.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience with library assessment tools and platforms.
- Familiarity with assessment, user experience, or user engagement.
- Experience with assessment and evaluation methodologies and activities.
- Familiarity with analysis and visualization software and tools (e.g., Excel, Access, Nvivo, Tableau, PowerBI, etc.)
