Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) Librarian, Assistant Professor of BibliographyThis newly created position will lead the development of geospatial data services, programs and collections; assess the needs of the GIS user community; collaborate with subject librarians and library IT personnel; provide instruction and research assistance in the use of geospatial information; and interact regularly with students, faculty, staff, university affiliates and the local, state-wide and international geospatial community.
Required qualifications: ALA-accredited MLS or relevant master’s degree; degree in a relevant subject area with concentration in GIS or significant experience in the use of GIS services relevant to the position; recent experience using GIS software, including ESRI software products; knowledge of map and geospatial resources; high degree of computer literacy; interest in emerging technologies; excellent communication and presentation skills; demonstrated ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
