Job Title: Programming Assistant (Remote)
Works with: The Programming Assistant works with staff across the Wiki and Archives Teams; as well as BLT contractors as needed.
Reports directly to: Archives Director and Wiki Director
Job Overview: The Programming Assistant is crucial in supporting the administrative planning and execution of our programs. As a Remote Programming Assistant, you will work closely with the directors and other team members to ensure timely and organized delivery of BLT virtual and in-person programming. This role requires a proactive individual who is organized, detail-oriented, and has a passion for our cause.
Duties:
- Assist in the planning and coordination of various programs and events. This may include aspects of project management such as scheduling meetings, managing calendars, and keeping track of deadlines and deliverables.
- Help develop program timelines, budgets, and resources allocation.
- Coordinate logistics for events, including venue booking, catering, and transportation.
- Support in managing program documentation and databases.
- Assist in creating and distributing promotional materials for programs.
- Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Conduct research and gather data to support program development.
- Provide administrative support to the directors and other team members as needed.
- Maintain connections with partners including institutions and individuals, including collecting and organizing records and files related to programs and events.
- Execute tasks and projects as directed by leadership.

- Excellent organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a remote environment.
- Skilled user of Asana and Google Workspace (docs, spreadsheets, etc) platforms
- Competency with Wikicode and the Wikimedia platforms and familiarity with digital archives
- Demonstrated investment in Black lives and the organization’s mission
- Minimum of 2 years of related or relevant work
Expectations + Compensation:
This is a full-time, salaried position with benefits. The starting salary for this role is $40,000 per year. The Programming Assistant is expected to fulfill 30 hours a week. There is an expectation of travel for the role, likely every other month, depending on the selected candidate’s location.
