Description

The Electronic Resources Librarian will:

• Provide leadership for management of the library’s electronic resources, which includes managing the selection, acquisition, cataloging/preservation, and assessment of resources in all formats.
• Collaborate with the Dean of the Library to manage the annual e-resources materials budget and information resources expenditures.
• Work with publishers and vendors to negotiate and maintain electronic resource licenses and contracts, manage database subscriptions, purchase orders, and electronic licensing agreements; resolve related problems as needed.
• Work with library colleagues to set e-resources policies, workflows, and procedures.
• Collaborate with other librarians to provide expert advice to the library and campus on online information resources.
• Evaluate and recommend e-resources, demonstrations or trial subscriptions for librarian and faculty evaluation.
• Provide training on e-resources for librarians and staff; create LibGuides and research aids in other formats for assigned liaison areas.
• Collaborate with the Emerging Technologies and Systems Librarian to update knowledgebases, proxies, reference linking systems, and discovery interfaces as necessary (EBSCO, EZProxy, etc.).
• Collaborate with the Library Administrative Services Coordinator to ensure that vendor invoices are paid in a timely manner.
• Collect statistics on resource usage in all formats. Collaborate with librarians and library administration to conduct ongoing assessment of collections.
• Serve as a liaison to one or more departments/programs.
• Actively engage in professional development activities as required for promotion and tenure.

Qualifications
Master’s degree in Library or Information Science from an ALA accredited program.
• Minimum two years of relevant experience pertaining to the management of e-resources.
• Knowledge of current issues in the e-resources lifecycle, including acquiring, licensing, and managing access to electronic resources.
• Awareness of current developments and trends in electronic resources, with the proven ability to apply such knowledge to local practices.
• Understanding of library metadata standards (MARC21, Dublin Core, RDA, etc.).
• Demonstrated proficiency with automated library systems, usage tools, and vendor management tools.
• Effective communication, interpersonal, and team building skills.
• Commitment to diversity and social justice.
• Evidence of ability to successfully engage in professional activities and disciplinary scholarship to satisfy promotion and tenure requirements for the Massachusetts State College Association (MSCA) collective bargaining agreement. (http://mscaunion.org/contract/)

Preferred Qualifications
• Second master’s degree. (Required for promotion beyond associate librarian rank.)
• Knowledge of the publishing industry and copyright issues.
• Experience with library management systems, electronic resources management tools such as FOLIO and CORAL.
• Understanding of COUNTER data standards.
• Supervisory experience.
• Supervisory experience in an academic library environment.
• Ability to adapt quickly in a dynamic, evolving library and campus environment.
• Ability to think strategically, set priorities, and manage responsibilities independently.
