Salary Range: $58,000 annualized, with flexibility, commensurate with education, experience and qualifications.

Essential Functions

 

Job Summary

 

You will help foster a culture of user-centered thinking within the organization, being an advocate for the user across the organization, ensuring that the user's perspectives are central to all decision-making processes. In this role, you will be a data evangelist, communicating data in ways that are impactful and inspired.

 

In collaboration with Libraries staff, campus stakeholders, and users, you will build and sustain an assessment program, visualizing key organizational data in support of informed decision-making.

 

Core Responsibilities

 

• Conduct user experience testing and heuristic evaluations of systems, spaces, and experiences; analyze user data and recommend areas for improvement.

• Collect, analyze, and visualize library and user data from various sources including library systems, vendor statistics, observations, surveys, interviews, and focus groups.

• Develop, implement, and maintain systems to collect, store, process, and disseminate organizational data for internal decision-making and external reporting.

• Generate analysis and translate insights into reports, visualizations, and dashboards to inform organizational decision-making.

• Provide consultation, training, and documentation to support library staff as they gather, process, analyze, manage, and report data related to library resources and services.

• Manage data collection for annual reporting for the Libraries and Museums (ARL, ACRL, IPEDS); including gathering, reviewing, evaluating, and synthesizing data submitted by library and museum departments.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Required Qualifications

 

• Accredited MLS/MLIS or relevant Master's Degree

• One year of experience working with data to assess programs, services, or products; data collection, manipulation, and analysis; and assessing user needs and behavior.

• Knowledge of statistical analysis and interpretation.

• Skills in and experience with quantitative and qualitative research methodologies, such as surveys, user interviews, or focus groups.

• Experience with tools such as Google Analytics, Qualtrics or other online survey tools; or experience with user testing applications.

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills; experience leading project teams; ability to work independently and as a member of a team.

• Ability to present complicated information in easily comprehensible formats, e.g. data visualization, appropriate use of charts, etc.

• Strong information management and organizational skills.

• Displays curiosity and enthusiasm around data, analysis, and interpretation.

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

• Competency with data visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI, or R.

• Experience in academic libraries and knowledge of assessment tools in academic libraries.

• Experience with program evaluation and statistical analysis.

• Experience in data management and/or knowledge management.

• Experience in administering surveys and using other research methods.

• Experience in collecting and reporting data for ARL, ACRL, and IPEDs.

Physical Demands:

 

• Sedentary work; sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary, if walking and standing are required, only occasionally.

 

This position will require working both remotely in Texas and on campus (approximately five or more days on campus per month). Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility. Applicants must be adaptable and open to working in both environments.
