IE University  invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Digital Humanities at the Assistant Professor level to join our new interdisciplinary School of Humanities in September 2024.

Candidates should demonstrate a solid grasp of analytical methods that inform the Digital Humanities, such as textual mining, natural language processing, data visualization, and/or digital mapping.

Applicants should demonstrate commitment to excellence in scholarship and teaching in a liberal arts college environment and are expected to play a significant role in shaping the future direction of our growing department.

Teaching responsibilities include 135 contact hours per year (roughly comparable to a 2-1 teaching load), divided across a range of introductory and advanced undergraduate courses. Additional duties will include conducting research, writing for publication, participating in department governance, and university service.

Spanish language skills are not required. Our working language is English, and both our faculty and student body are highly diverse and international. Opportunities for Spanish language training will be provided to assist with integration into living in Spain.

Qualifications

In addition to candidates with a PhD in Digital Humanities, we will also consider those whose terminal degree comes from a humanities discipline (broadly defined) and have experience with computational methods in pedagogy and research.

We also welcome applications from candidates with a PhD in the Computer Sciences (or related fields) who are actively engaged in research in the humanities. Preference will be given to candidates who have developed a research agenda focusing on topics pertaining to Latin America and/or Africa.
