Description

Data-intensive and AI-assisted discovery has emerged as a new paradigm for research and innovation. To build up our competitive advantage, the University of California, Riverside (UCR) Library seeks TWO full-time Research Data Scientists to join our Research Services department. Reporting to the Director of Research Services (vacant academic position currently under recruitment), the incumbents will be the driving force of the library's Data Science Initiative to support campus research through interdisciplinary collaboration on cutting-edge projects in STEM, Liberal Arts, and Social Sciences. They will seek opportunities to embed themselves in campus research teams to directly address UCR researchers' data and AI-related needs through activities that include but are not limited to designing, developing, and implementing infrastructure, systems, software, and solutions; directly answering compute- and data-intensive research questions; contributing novel ideas, expertise, and methods to the teams’ intellectual discourse and advancement; providing data/AI-related consultation and instruction. In partnership with other library colleagues as well as UCR colleges, academic programs, Research and Economic Development, Information Technology Services, and Research Computing, they will continuously develop specialized and sought-after data science and AI expertise synergistic with UCR faculty’s research agendas. Ideal candidates are highly collaborative problem-solvers specializing in data science, statistical, and/or machine learning methods and tools, and have worked with various forms of data, including text. They should also enjoy conducting research across discipline lines to explore novel research fronts and are committed to lifelong learning and collaboration.

Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff.
