Salary Range: starting at $60,000 annualized, commensurate with education, experience and qualifications.

Essential Functions

Job Summary

Leverage technical knowledge and skills to implement library projects focused on making scholarship relevant to the community using digital methods that value interdisciplinarity, collaboration, and critical inquiry.

Advance student success and research excellence at UTSA by focusing on research and instruction services, developing and maintaining strong faculty relationships and facilitating meaningful use of the Libraries' information resources.

Core Responsibilities

• Uses knowledge and technical skills around the implementation of digital projects to achieve Libraries digital scholarship goals, foregrounding creative praxis, co-creation, and public engagement.
• Support a wide variety of digital projects such as podcasts, digital exhibits, multimedia content, and other forms of storytelling.
• Bridge technical and non-technical communities, so that project goals, timelines, and deliverables are clearly understood by all.
• Support and advance the work of the Community-Engaged Digital Scholarship Hub, a collaborative effort between librarians, faculty, and community members.
• Serves as an expert advisor and consultant to UTSA faculty, identifies and actively cultivates enduring partnerships with academic programs and key faculty at UTSA, aiming to facilitate meaningful use of information resources and tools in teaching, research, and learning.
• Develops, implements, and promotes education programming, provides advice and assists faculty in integrating information resources into face-to-face, hybrid, and online courses.
• Plans, develops, and delivers subject-specific online and in-person instruction that supports positive course- and program-level student learning outcomes. Selects and evaluates materials in all formats to support areas of subject responsibility.
• Partners with key UTSA Libraries and Museums areas: Collections, Creative Services, Digital Humanities, Art Collection, Scholarly Communications, Institute of Texan Cultures, Digital Scholarship, and Special Collections teams to contribute to library-wide programming, strategic projects, and initiatives.

Required Qualifications

• A MLS/MLIS degree from an ALA (American Library Association) accredited institution or a Master's Degree in a related field
• One year experience providing teaching and instruction to university students or using technical skills and knowledge to support digital projects
• Two years' experience developing digital content and information resources in a higher education environment
• Demonstrated ability to identify, build, cultivate, and sustain strategic partnerships with library colleagues, faculty, and community members.
• Demonstrated ability to support digital projects with technical skills and know-how.
• Ability to create engaging learning experiences for undergraduate students.
• Familiarity with information resources, tools, and emerging technologies in digital scholarship and/or digital humanities.
• Excellent analytical skills.
• Ability to set and adjust priorities, set goals, and make effective decisions in a complex environment.
• Ability to work independently with varied user groups in a complex organization and function collaboratively in a changing team environment.
• Demonstrated interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of or experience with creating digital exhibits.
• Knowledge of or experience with data analysis and visualization and mapping tools such as Python, R, Tableau, Power Bi, Open Refine or ArcGIS.
• Knowledge of or experience with tools for collaborative research such as GitHub, data repositories, and data sharing tools.

Working Conditions

• Hybrid work environment

This position will require working both remotely in Texas and on campus (approximately five or more days on campus per month). Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility. Applicants must be adaptable and open to working in both environments.
