OVERVIEW The Baltimore Museum of Art is seeking an experienced Manager of Digital Asset Services to help expand public access to the artworks in the BMA’s care by establishing and managing the Museum’s Digital Asset Management System and related services, including photography, rights, and reproductions for educational, promotional, or commercial use both inside the museum and by outside audiences.
RESPONSIBILITIES Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Advise on and negotiate image rights for BMA publications, advertisements, and social media posts • Maintain and manage Piction, the Museum’s digital asset management system, and train staff members about how to use and access it. • Work with the Registrar’s Office to maintain and update eMuseum, the Museum’s publicly-accessible, online collections database. • Work with external partners to make the BMA’s collection more accessible via digital databases and web-based projects. • In partnership with the Museum’s Photographer and members of Conservation Department and Registrar’s Office, develop a dynamic monthly photography schedule for artworks in the Museum’s care. • Serve on the BMA’s Time-Based Media Working Group. • Supervise the work of the Senior Photographer and the Image Services and Rights Coordinator. • Create and monitor annual and project-specific budgets.
This full time, exempt position reports to the Eddie C. and C. Sylvia Brown Chief Curator.
QUALIFICATIONS • Bachelor’s degree in Art History, Digital Humanities or Library Science; Masters degree preferred • 3-5 years of professional experience with digital asset and collections management systems, • Knowledge of and interest in US copyright law, including fair use practices • Detail oriented, with an ability to work on several projects simultaneously • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment • Exceptional written and oral communication skills • Ability to absorb and retain information quickly • Experience working with TMS, Piction, and eMuseum preferred • Experience working with galleries and artists preferred • Art handling experience preferred

SALARY - $66,300
