Description
The NASA Archives preserves and provides access to historically significant materials relating to the NASA Agency’s history and organization. This opportunity is a virtual internship in which the intern will gain skills and understanding relating to archival processing and preservation of digital objects. This project will focus on harvesting digital objects from a web archival file, formatting metadata according to DACS standards, and normalizing the digital objects for long term storage. The intern will also be responsible for creating archival descriptions and linking digital objects in the Enterprise Archival Description System, Access to Memory (AtoM), for future discovery. Skills needed: Enrollment in an MLIS program is required. Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, Archival Description Software (e.g., Archives Space, and/or Access to Memory). Comfortable with learning and using new software. Knowledge of archival theory, principles, and practices. Knowledge or experience with metadata, taxonomies, and authority files.
