Electronic Resources Librarian
The Cushwa-Leighton Library is seeking a candidate for the position of Electronic Resources Librarian. The incumbent will be part of a highly collaborative Library team and, as a tenure-track member of the College faculty, will participate in appropriate committees and task forces to advance the curricular and research goals of the students and faculty of the College. In common with all members of the Library team, the Electronic Resources Librarian will work to increase inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility in our efforts, services, and scholarship, and will support outreach efforts especially to members of the Saint Mary’s community from underrepresented populations. This position reports to the Library Director.

General Responsibilities
The Electronic Resources Librarian is responsible for managing the life cycle of electronic resources, including databases, e-books, streaming video, and serials, and supervising and guiding the work of the Metadata and Electronic Resources Assistant. Additionally, the Electronic Resources Librarian ensures the appropriate functioning of library management systems, including the management of metadata, knowledge base integration, proxy management, and cataloging for materials in all formats.
Specifically, the incumbent in this position is expected to:
Manage the life cycle of electronic resources including databases, electronic journals, ebooks, streaming videos and the platforms used to access those resources
Supervise and mentor the Metadata and Electronic Resources Assistant in all activities in support of metadata and electronic resources maintenance
Take a lead in training and development of workflow, policies, procedures, and documentation for e-resource management processes and systems
Work with colleagues to determine needs and prioritize those projects for the library
Maintain the Library’s library management system and support the work of staff in its use
Oversee the creation of appropriate metadata for all resources available to Library users
Assess usage of electronic resources
Participate, as part of the Library faculty team, in regular reference and instructional activities
As members of the faculty, Librarians at Saint Mary’s College are expected to participate in research and service in addition to performing their specific responsibilities. This expectation includes such activities as participating in and contributing to library and campus-wide committees; contributing to the profession at consortial, regional, and/or national level; maintaining a broad awareness of current and emerging issues that affect electronic resources management; participating in relevant publishing and presentation opportunities; and pursuing knowledge of professional trends and developments that can be applied to evolving research, services and collections.
Required Qualifications
ALA-accredited MLS/MLIS or equivalent advanced degree
Positive, proactive approach to problem-solving
Experience working with electronic resources, preferably in an academic library
Familiarity with integrated library systems
Familiarity with digital tools, standards and initiatives related to the management of electronic resources
Ability to adapt to change; to plan, implement and assess projects
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work and interact collaboratively and effectively with faculty, students, staff and administrators in a culturally diverse environment
Ability to think creatively in solving problems
Proactive attitude and ability to take initiative, develop, and carry out projects as well as manage multiple priorities and deadlines
Knowledge of diversity, equity, inclusion and awareness literature and strategies in the workplace and higher education
Preferred Qualifications
Supervisory experience
Ability to solve electronic resource access problems
Experience working with e-resources in a consortium or shared environment
Working knowledge of metadata standards, best practices, and data management practices
Salary commensurate with experience and abilities. Minimum salary: $54,000.
